This feature is only available on the Royal Jelly plan
What Does It Do?
When a message is sent or received in Jelly, a notification is posted to your chosen Slack channel. The notification includes:
- An emoji indicating whether it’s a new message or a reply
- The sender’s name and recipients
- A link to the conversation in Jelly (using the subject line as the link text)
- Any labels on the conversation
For example, you might see something like:
๐จ New message from Sarah Johnson: Question about enterprise pricing (Billing, VIP)
or:
โ๏ธ Alex responded to Support Team: Re: API integration issue
Setting Up Slack Integration
Prerequisites
- Admin access in Jelly (only admins can configure integrations)
- Permission to install apps in your Slack workspace
- A Royal Jelly subscription (or an active free trial)
Connect to Slack
- Go to Settings โ Integrations
- Under the Slack section, click Add Jelly to Slack
- Choose your Slack workspace and authorize the connection
- Once connected, select a Slack channel from the dropdown
- Click Update to save your channel selection
Jelly requests three Slack permissions:
channels:readโ to list your public channels in the dropdownchat:writeโ to post notification messageschat:write.publicโ to post to public channels the bot hasn’t joined
Choose a Channel
You can select any non-archived public channel in your workspace. Only one channel is supported โ all Jelly notifications go to the same place.
To change the channel later, just return to Settings โ Integrations and select a different channel from the dropdown.
Test the Connection
After selecting a channel, click Send test notification to verify everything is working. A test message will appear in your selected Slack channel.
Disconnecting
To disconnect Jelly from Slack, click Disconnect on the Integrations page. This immediately revokes the Slack token and stops all notifications. You can reconnect at any time by clicking Add Jelly to Slack again.
Tips
- Pick a dedicated channel โ Create a channel like
#jelly-notificationsto keep notifications from cluttering general channels - Use Slack’s notification settings โ If the channel gets noisy, adjust Slack’s per-channel notification preferences to reduce alerts
- Combine with rules โ Use Jelly’s rules to label and organize conversations, and the labels will show up in Slack notifications for extra context
