Jelly's notification system ensures you never miss important updates while avoiding notification overload. You'll automatically follow conversations you're involved with, and you can customize exactly how and when you want to be notified.
Following Conversations
When you follow a conversation, you'll receive notifications about activity on it. Following is Jelly's way of keeping you connected to conversations that matter to you.
Automatic Following
You automatically follow a conversation when you:
- ๐ง Send a reply to the customer
- ๐ฌ Add an internal comment
- ๐ค Are assigned to it
- ๐ท๏ธ Are mentioned in a comment
- โ๏ธ Create a new conversation
Manual Following
You can also manually follow any conversation:
- Open the conversation
- Click the "Follow" button (bell icon)
- You'll now receive notifications for all activity
To stop following, simply click the button again to "Unfollow".
Types of Notifications
๐ In-App Notifications
Appear in Jelly's notification center (bell icon in the top bar). Always enabled for followed conversations.
๐ง Email Notifications
Sent to your email address for important updates. Configurable based on your preferences.
๐ฑ Push Notifications
Browser or mobile notifications for real-time updates. Great for urgent conversations.
What Triggers Notifications
If you're following a conversation, you'll be notified when:

Configuring Notifications
Customize your notification preferences:
- Click your profile photo in the top right
- Select "Notification Settings"
- Choose your preferences for each notification type
Available Settings:
- Email me about new replies: Get emails when customers respond to followed conversations
- Email me about comments: Get emails when team members comment on followed conversations
- Email me about mentions: Get emails when you're @mentioned (recommended to keep on)
- Daily digest: Receive a summary of activity instead of individual emails
- Quiet hours: Pause notifications during specified times
Push Notifications Setup
Desktop Browser
- Click the bell icon in Jelly's top bar
- Select "Enable push notifications"
- Allow notifications when your browser prompts you
- You'll now receive desktop notifications for followed conversations
Mobile (iOS/Android)
- Add Jelly to your home screen (see mobile setup guide)
- Open Jelly from your home screen icon
- When prompted, allow notifications
- Configure notification preferences in your device settings if needed
The Notification Center
Access your notifications by clicking the bell icon in the top bar. Here you'll find:
- Recent activity on followed conversations
- Mentions from team members
- Assignment notifications
- A complete history of all notifications

Best Practices
For Individual Contributors:
- Follow conversations you're actively working on
- Enable push notifications for urgent customer channels
- Use email digests if you prefer batched updates
- Unfollow resolved conversations to reduce noise
For Team Leads:
- Follow high-priority or escalated conversations
- Use mentions to pull in team members when needed
- Consider following new team members' conversations for training
- Set up quiet hours to maintain work-life balance
Troubleshooting
Not receiving notifications?
- Check you're following the conversation (bell icon should be filled)
- Verify your notification settings are configured correctly
- For push notifications, ensure your browser has permission
- Check your email spam folder for email notifications
- Disable ad blockers that might interfere with notifications
Too many notifications?
- Unfollow conversations that are resolved or no longer relevant
- Switch to daily digest emails instead of instant notifications
- Set up quiet hours for times you don't want to be disturbed
- Adjust which types of activity trigger email notifications
